Door Unlocking problem
Hi Guys,
I have a problem of a differnt kind. I have an Audi A4 B5 1995/1996 (i live in germany, cant understand their language yet, so posting on English forums :-)).
Driver side door:
When i unlock using the key in the door, only that door opens. But when i get in and shut the door all the doors, gas flap and boot open up. When i lock it, again, using the key in the door, it locks all doors. A few days back it miraculosly let me open all the doors with the key from the driver side door and made me look good in front of this chick i was picking up :-), but now it doesnot.
Passenger side door:
Locks/unlocks all the doors and boot and flap.
Remote Lock/unlock:
I have a key with just one button on it, i do not know what it is used for, Locking or unlocking. I changed the batteries but nothing worked. I asked the previous owner and he said he never used it, he always locked and unlocked the doors manually. Its so amazing how some ppl have no curiosity. I called a dealer and he said bring the car over and we will check it out (meaning: We will do nothing and will keep your car for a few days and then give you a 100€ bill), i don't wanna do that.
A little help and guidance will be hugely appreciated..
Regards
Suresh

when using the actual key to open my door, it works how you described. one turn to the left, it opens the drivers side door. turn it again to the left, and all doors are unlocked. same goes for the fob button. one unlock push, and the drivers side door unlocks. one more push and evevrything is unlocked
thanks redline380 for the reply,
but my key is an old fashioned one with no keyless entry, only one button for some LED light i guess, which is also not working.
I tried the two turn trick, i turn once, and the driver door opens, i turn again, and i feel its slack, no pressure like you felt during the first turn.

An update,
I checked in my car, under the rear seat to see if there is a keyless entry, and looks like i don't have it. I connected VCDS lite on my 64 bit win 7 laptop to check the central locking module, but it says no response from module. Have to rip out the boot carpet to check for water in pump.
any other suggestions?

Hello! I had the same problem when I first purchased mine, it allowed me to negotiate the price of the car down considerably, then while driving it back to Seattle, everything came back to life! Magical right?
Not really ;D
These cars locks are vacuum powered. This kind of work can get kind of involved and I would recomend just taking it to a shop. There is most likely a leak in your vacuum system that is messing with the locks. The actual vacuum pump itself is located under the hood to the left of the fuse box if you remove the plastic rain gaurd. Replacing the pump might help, but this sounds like there could be a deeper issue here.
Im sure if you are in germany there are lots of independant mechanics who can inexpensively take a look at it for you. Try german craigslist for audi mechanics? Hope this helps!

Ok,
So i got some time off to do some work on the car. First thing i checked, under the rear seat; no keyless entry module. Next thing i did, take the boot carpet and cladding out and check for the pump under water; no water, no shatteres impeller.
third, took out the door inner panel and checked for the working at the locks. did not understand a crap. So a little help needed here. I saw that when you press the small **** to lock all the doors, it does and locks all doors. But when i pull it to unlock, it unlocks only the drivers door. But when i do that on the passenger side, it locks and unlocks all doors. So i finally put it all back hoping someone might help me out.
I drove the car to parking and when i locked it i realized i forgot my phone in it. when i opened the drivers door it unlocked all doors. it worked the whole saturday, but then stopped working from sunday

Neither one of my rear windows and the lock on the drivers side rear don't work. I have tried working them from their own switches but no go.
The front windows and locks function normally.
Any ideas?
