How do you guys think just a down pipe and a muffler would sound on my 1997 1.8T? Any suggestions?

 

IMO:
Borla+Milltek-deep, refined finish
Magnflow+custom+remus-more aggressive sounding

Downpipe/Testpipe will make the car sound ALOT meaner and a little louder. This is a common combination with b5 exhaust systems. Recommendations vary, it all depends on what type of tone you would like.

iv been looking around and im prob going to go with a test pipe after inspection...any one have any recomendations on test pipe/down pipe/muffler combo? im looking for a nice mean sound nothing ricey tho...suggestions please!!!

 

do you have strict emissions testing? if so go with labree HFC and 2.5" custom exhaust all the way back to a Magnaflow muffler, no resonator. i love the way it sounds and that the set-up i have

magnaflow with custom 2.75 and tp

 

that sounds pretty good....im looking for something thats not to expensive thats why im not just going with the borla...but please anyone out there with a tp/muffler/and custom no res?

 

both of these cars had no resonator and either a test-pipe or HFC?

 

i like your sound nova...i wanna go with the tp because im only in highschool and cant spend 250 on a cat... do u think 3in piping would sound deeper or just more ricey

 

dont get 3" unless u have a big turbo, or getting one in the near future otherwise ur gonna be robbing some performance instead of making it better...but yea dude tp gives u better performance, but like i said earlier make sure it will pass emissions first
