Default Driving light

I have a 2001 audi a4. my brake light recently went out. soi decided to changed the bulb. Once i changed the bulb the break light would work but the driving light wouldnt. (the light that comes on when car has been started) What do you think is the problem? I dont think its the fuse because when i press the break the same light comes out that is used for the driving light. If anyone can help me out i would appreciate it. maybe you can tell but im not much of a handy man.

Thanks in advance!

When you say "driving light", are you sure that you don't mean the tail light?

Are you saying that the brake light works with the new bulb, but the tail light doesn't come on when you turn the lights on?
