EBAY Vag Com

Hello all-

I have a 98 A4 non turbo... I was thinking about getting a Vag Com Cable off Ebay... Will I be able to reset the check engine or abs lights? I understand if there is something truely wrong that the lights will come back on shortly after resetting... What EXACTLY will I need.. anyone have expereince with this.

i have the ebay cable... you can get that and d/l the program from ross-tech, but when you want/need to erase the code, you will need to do a search(run) for fault codes, then go to the specific section if you find a miss-fire running vag, then you will need to go into the engine section and re-ren for that part... and clear from there....

you can't clear codes like if you have the ross-tech cable...... 1 extra step, but works the "same" and alot cheaper than $200

yup, get the $20 ebay cable, get the 409 free software. Once you read the codes, fix them then they wont come back :P

I believe I have the same one as well, and when I plugged it into my car it prompted me for an authentic Ross-tech registered product...so the cord works fine, but I need to bypass the registration, or do you know of an available Password/Registration key so I can use the cord?

so you can clear the codes if you go to the control module in the upper left and select engine? i just barely got the cable and scanned the codes with 409.1 but haven't figured out exactly how to clear them.

You should check google for a .bat script which in combination with some genuine licencefiles will make the program work in fullmode all the time. You will need to use torrentsites to download a cracked version, then make the scripts yourself (or find them on the net).

I haven't found an option to take off the service lights yet, anyone else have? I use standard FTDI chipset cable and vagcom 409. Was able to do stuff like throttle adjustment on it, but don't know how to reset service lights!
