EGT very high !! need help

Hello

I have a 97' Passat 1.8T B5 AEB engine.(125k km)

3 days ago i was doing a track day and when the car was at 200km(less than 7000RPM) the EGT shows 930c at fifth gear.this is strange becase 900c is the max to be on the safe side so i cant pass 200km even the car can go to 250km easy.

Today i notice that the EGT is 930c at 180km fifth gear,930c at 140km 3rd gear(!)

I must say that month ago i didnt had this issue,i ran 4th gear to 200km 7500RPM and EGT shows less than 900c,it was 880-890c
when driving 100-100km it shows 600-700c.

my setup:

GT28RS
FMC
440CC injectors
Big fuel pump
HKS BOV
Manual boost control (3 pipes)
2.75" from downpipe all the way
chip for GT28RS
Clutch Masters stage 3

The manual boost control set to 1.4 BAR

Any Idea what is wrong?

Thanks

Do you have an air/fuel gauge?

What you are describing is a lean condition, Check for a restriction in the fuel system. Such as a clogged fuel filter or a clogged injector.

Lastly are you running a cat or test pipe. A plugged cat will cause high EGT's.

i did vag com for the lambda sensor and it shows good reading + to - 10%
for Mass flow at WOT it is <160-170g/s

He's right about a lean condition or clogged cat raising EGTs. What tune are you running specifically? Another way EGTs can go up like that is too much timing under boost. If your tune isn't pulling timing back properly, you'll run high EGTs.

If your MAF reading is only 160-170 at WOT then that could be your problem... stock K03 at 19psi can do about 150 g/s. Have you tried cleaning or replacing your MAF? Or maybe something else is causing that problem.

what is a good reading for gt28rs?

i think i never replace the maf and i have the car for 5 years..BUT...yestrday i disconnect the maf connector and start driving and the car almost cant move,i connect the maf back and the car start to move so...its good sign that the maf is still OK ?

i notice also for black signs on the back plastic coverof the Exhaust,so its also a sign...

Do you have a stock MAF housing? Usually tunes requiring 440cc injectors use a 3 inch OD (70mm ID) MAF housing such as a VR6 MAF housing with a stock MAF sensor.

I think you should be seeing MAF readings that are 200+ g/s.

Did today vag com for maf second gear and 3rd gear and I got 165 g/s

I use 3" maf housing

That definitely sounds too low to me... if you can hook up an AFR gauge you'll see if your car is running lean or not. As mentioned above, if it is running lean that will cause high EGT, especially since your car runs narrowband and can't tune the AFR at WOT.
