the sound qualitly is pretty shitty but im looking for some advice on possible causes for the noise

im thinking lifter taping or a bad cam chain tensioner

the oil was just changed M1 along with a seafoam being done prior to the change and it hasnt quieted the engine a bit

im trying to decide fix it or tade it in or sell it off and see what i get

Sounds like a bad tensioner. You can sort of hear it go in and out whereas if it were a lifter, the sound would be consistent. Just my .02

 

if its coming from the back of the head right on top, its probably the chain tensioner. if its not coming from there, it almost sounded like a piece of rubber slapping around to me. could have just been the video though.

 

Its a pretty terrible video, but it doesn't sound like a lifter tapping. My money is on a cam tensioner.

 

thanx guys ill pull the cover and have it looked at

i wish i had taken a peak when i fix a bad valve cover leak

it had leaked into the spark plug wells so bad the oil smothered the spark lol

 

You won't be able to see anything if you take the valve cover off. The damage to the tensioner would be internal.

 

what about running the engine with the cover off for a few seconds?

i know it risks particles into it but wondering if it would cause any damage or just make a huge mess lol
