Engine Temp gauge not reading properly
Hey guys,
So on my engine temp gauge, not the oil temp one. I have 3 numbers, 60 on the left, 90 at the top and 120 to the right, these are in celsius. Usually the needle sits at 12 oclock, on the 90. But lately it has been only moving up to the first dash past the 60, even when the car has been running a long time and fully warmed up.
Is this bad? What could be causing this?
Thanks

your car will burn more gas if you don't. the computer will think the engine is cold like from start, and try to burn more gas to get it warmed up.
It may cause other problems as well. over all you might be getting 2 to 4 mpg less unless you replace it

could also be the coolant temp sensor. After the car has been running for a while or after you get back from driving someplace, go out and pop the hood and feel the top radiator hose. If its cold, your thermostat is stuck open. If its hot, its more likely your CTS is kaput.
From personal experience, plan on getting dirty with this job. You will get coolant in the face
. Also, be sure to note which way the thermostat is oriented in the housing as it will fit either way, but not work either way. Finally, I found that when refilling coolant I needed to unbolt the reservoir and hold it as high as possible to help it fill the system. I really had trouble burping the system. You have to slightly pull back one of the heater core hoses to expose a hole, and when coolant comes from that hole, its full. IIRC I may have even poured coolant directly into the top radiator hose to help fill it. Pain in the ***!

I should probably have asked this before, by top radiator hose you are talking about this one:

If so I just drove around for a while and that hose was as hot as usual when I was done.
