I noticed a clonking noise coming from the front end (bumps, potholes, also braking when starting to brake).
The steering and overall driving seems firm.
My first guess would be the struts. Shocks seem fine. Are the strut mountings wearing out?

 

Yes, possibly, but it can be any of many things. The shocks, or the shock mounts or a control arm (of which there are 8 up front) or a loose bolt somewhere or many other things. I had a front end clunk in my truck when my friend took it to his friend for an alignment and said friend didn't tighten all of the bolts enough.
