Fuel Problem
 

Hi, I have recently purchased a 2000 A4 2.5 TDI V6, problem is that when fuel gauge read 1/4 tank and computer said 35 miles left it ran out of fuel, what is the most likely cause the tank sender or the computer ?? HELP PLEASE

I would suspect a bad sender unit in the fuel tank. they get gummed up from the diesel fuel , can stick or cause false readings.

Unfortunately we dont get to see these engines here in the States so could not be posative.

Also one more thing , there is a fuel sender adaption that have a effect on the readings.

Most likly the sender will need replacement.
