so i see different sites offer different color connectors and some even offer using serial port instead... now just curious is there any difference with these? i mean i know they say u get what u pay for.. but paying 200+ dollars at one place and paying 20 at another is a big gap.. but its just a cable right?

and the other part of the question.. some of the cheapo guys like ebay and other sites that sell this set up also come with a CD... has anyone actually gone through the cheaper ones? do u guys know if the cheaper guy witht the CD still gives u everything u need? i ask cuz i jsut ordered one with a cd for like 22 bux including shipping with a cd... so i wanna know if its gonna be ready to go or will have have to find a different cd/download thing to make this cable work?

I've been looking for a vag-com as well and found that only release 409 and lower work with third party cables. Anything higher than 409 and you need genuine ross-tech cable. If you do get a third party cable you have to also buy a license as well ($99), otherwise the software will only run in shareware mode (genuine ross-tech cables have built in activation, no need for additonal license). Not sure about the eBay CD (maybe cracked version?)

 

well i didnt get mine from ebay i got it from a different site.. but there is someone on here that said they knew how to get a cracked version or a link to download what i need or something.. so if he happens to read this or someone knows him.. tell him to email me the info just in case the d that comes with my thing doesnt work

i believe its only pc's but if you have the windows on you mac you should be able to use it

 

well ive seen some of the listings say it wont work on vista... so u prolly have to run it in compatabbility mode for xp sp2
