GIAC Tiptronic Chip

I was just wondering if anybody on here had this chiped installed and how they liked it? Also does it really shift that much faster and is it worth buying?

if you have the $400 to get it chipped it is definatly worth it. from 1 second shift to .2 second shift...i hear you can use a vag-com to also shift quicker...anyone have anymore info on this??

I hate to sound like a broken record with this, but the tip-chip is a good upgrade. It does reduce the lag time between shifts -but the biggest thing you'll notice is that the shift-points have been moved up. The car also doesn't do as much gear-hunting when going up a hill, or when under any kind of load.

Poke around in the classifieds. They're rare, but you can find a used one. I was lucky enough to find a used one for $230

I'm assuming this is only when you're in "tip" mode? If you're in regular automatic mode this makes no diff is that correct?

Yoda, he meant when you're in full auto it doesn't hunt for gears. When you're in full tip mode, you can control your own shifting, so the "gear hunting" statement is rendered void.

The chip has its benefits in both modes. As Leifer stated, the gear-hunting is only applicable to auto-mode. You will also see that the shift points are moved upwhen driving in auto-mode as well.

How is driving in tiptronic? I never drive in full auto; I always like full tip.

I like driving in tip mode with the chip - it actually makes owning an automaticbearable
