Default was gifted a new leak yesterday....happy ending!

So, I went to my local oil change place and a new guy was working under the car...didn't think much of it....

later last night I dropped the car off at my local audi tech for a 4wheel alignment and a bad O-ring coming from the thermo...

this afternoon I get the call that I was a quart low and that there was no gasket on my oil filter.....

luckily I only drove the car 10 miles from the time of the oil change to my mechanic....

If I hadn't dropped it off, and I took it to school this morning....this could have been a seized engine thread (god forbid)

so yes, I got the car back...for the first time ever the car is current on all maintenance!...no leaks, squeaks, no nothing!

I am definitely going to talk to the owner of the oil change place...I am going to try and get the new guy fired...they have been servicing my truck and the audi for the past two years and the same guy always did the draining and the oil filter....I have now decided that i will cough up the extra $30 and have my local audi shop do them from now on....

well, just my news for today....

on a plus note...the coolant O-ring was factory defected, so i didn't pay a penny for it....the 4 wheel alignment was $95 and I had never had one before...

i dont know if i would try to get the guy fired- but i would definately go back in there and make an enormous scene infront of all the customers in the office ask to talk to the new guy personaly and give him a lesson on what the o ring on the oil filter actualy does.

sure mistakes do happen, the only reason i would be this harsh is if your engine had siezed and you went in there and told them about it i doubt they would strait up offer to fix the problem that was their fault. wrong- you would have had to sue them before that would happen, so you were a 30 minuite drive away from an enormous headache.

demand your money back and explain to them what would have happened to the car had you not taken your car directly to another, more competent, mechanic.

glad it wasnt much worse then it was, you lucked out.

yeah, i am not one to make a scene...I would not be surprised if I was their best customer....I have over 2k in receipts from there that have accumulated over the last 2 years...I drive each vehicle over 20k a year and religiously change my oil every 3k (full syn in both vehicles).....

the owner knows me and know that i am a good guy....whenever I go in there we always shoot the ****....I am just going to mention that the new guy fu<ked up, and came a hair away from a seized motor and a lawsuit...

I am not going to deter other people from doing business with him....but my vehicles from now on will be going elsewhere....

I was actually charged $16.80 to have my oil drained out, new gasket put on filter and oil re-installed, plus a quart....so, i am goin to try and recover that $ manana
