Thats the old-style two piece connector. You're probably gonna need to rewire them

i noticed my D shaped connector on my car only has 3 wires in them (low, high and ground), ive seen others that have 4 low, high beam, ground and city light power. anybody know why?

well the obvious answer is that some have the city light and some don't. as for the question of why, that i can't answer. My DEPO e-codes have a city light socket but I didn't feel like wiring it up

I just put those headlights in a couple weeks ago... Since I'm pre-facelift my car has the round connector. HOWEVER, major rewiring was done regardless because the stock wiring for these headlights is stupid.

The high and low beams are just about the only useful part. As is the LEDs are wired as fog lights. The turn signal bulbs are single filament whereas the stock pre-facelift corners are double filament.

Their cutoff is pretty clean, but I wasn't impressed with their output with the included H1 halogen bulbs. If I would have installed a HID kit (would be pretty simple, can get a kit for $40) I would be blinding people often because of the shape of the cutoff! Though after removing the projectors from these headlights I modified the cutoff shield such that it would more closely match the cutoff of a true HID projector.

Bottom line... these headlights have decent output for halogen and rewiring isn't that big of a deal if you own and are familiar with a soldering iron. At night the LEDs look pretty amazing IMO.

I also planned to go with the led style headlights, but any H1 projector will be junk. I planned from the get go to just rip out the projector an retrofit some old true ECE valeo D2S hid projectors I have sitting around. Drop in 4300k 35w kit and good to go.

This is a pretty good H1 projector

That's what I retro'd into my LED headlights because there isn't a lot of space to work with. In fact, I would bet your Valeos are too long where the lens will hit the reflector part of the headlights, unless you cut the hole bigger (you would need to do that anyways if your projectors have a 3in. lens).

Not an issue, I'm one of the original members of hidplant.com. Have done lots of highly custom retrofits and custom housings over the yeas, including custom producing new reflectors and shrouds via vacuum forming.

I would be amazed if a bixenon projector fit, here is a comparison of an FX bixenon and valeo ECE side by side Both are 2.5" lense and should fit perfectly, length is always super easy to deal with if you don't need to modify shroud.

There's also the issue of foreground lighting, an H1 is a shallow depth projector so on road can never be as good. Below are samples of an older project. Low beam, highbeam, and cutoff. Philips 4300k D2S 85122 capsules

You further modify the cutoff with a gasket mod of filing the shield to achieve this as a final result.

I'd be interested in testing out those H1's though, retrofitsource is a reasonable respected company in the hid world since lavalighting went out of business.

i went ahead and put these on, after a lot of rewiring im finally finished. first the LED's look amazing, nice upgrade. second is that the light cut off sucks, third and this really pisses me off is that the driver side headlight shakes like crazy when in idle. running the car stops the shaking of the low beam. i also have the depo headlights from a month ago, those had a nice cut off beam but the passenger side headlight kept rubbing with the intake hose and shake'd like crazy. LED's that i have now i might need to cut the passenger side bumper holder (what ever its called.)
can these projectors be changed outand replace with different size bulb?
