HELP!! 01 a4 1.8t quattro air loss sound and loss of power

on my 2001 a4 audi 1.8 turbo quattro, i noticed as of late that when im driving and i accelerate especially in 3rd gear or just going over a hill the car feels like its struggling/stuttering and holding back a bit almost as if the breaks are on and i also started hearing a noise which sound like their is air releasing or a broken hose... my mechanic checked out the car but didnt find any hose broken or loose ... he want me to drive it until a check engine light comes on but that is my only means of transport and i dont want it to get any worst... any ideas

Do you have access to VAG com? lots of times you can scan the car and i will give you codes that explain why its sick even though you may not see a CEL.

no i don't... but ill ask my mechanic if he used one ... im trying to get different ideas as to what may be wrong with it so my mechanic can check that out... or if possible i can try and fix them myself

Unfortunately the symptoms you're describing are pretty vague and could be caused by any large number of things. Stuttering could be a misfire which could be coil packs, plugs, or fueling. It could also be the ECU pulling timing/fuel due to a lean/rich condition. The air sucking noise you're hearing could be the turbo, could be a boost/vac leak, etc. Codes would be extraordinarily helpful here.

thanks for trying to help... whats my best option right now?

I would say the best thing you could do is get your car scanned or looked at by somebody who knows what they're looking for. Where are you located?

Boost leak? Loss of power, and the air hiss noise are symptoms of this. Keep us posted
