Default Help! Cylinder Head or 2.0T Stroker?

Hey,
I'm hoping you guys can guide me to the right direction. I have an Audi A4 1.8T AEB 5spd quattro. With a little more than 130000 miles. My concern is with these many miles which one I should do first. I have a budget of $2500. My question is what should I do?

Here is my car specs:

GT3071R-WG Turbo

550cc RC Fuel injectors
ATP Fuel Rail
38mm Tial External Wastegate

BEGI Billet FMU 12:1 Fuel Regulator

Fuel Pressure Gauge

255lph Fuel Pump

ATP Blowoff Valve

3in MAF

Front Mount Intercooler - 27L x 9H x 3W
3in Downpipe

1 - I have an extra AEB cylinder head and I was thinking of port and polish and buying
Supertech valves
Gold CAT Springs
Retainer set
Lifters
CAT CAMS
Cam Gears
Head Bolts
Head Gasket set

2 - I have an extra AEB engine block and I was planning on making a 2.0T Stroker. The issue I have is I don't know the parts that I need. All I know is I need an ABA crankshaft 92.8 and the pistons sould be 83mm. I'm not sure the rod specs and any other information I need to do this with no issues.

3 - Buying a used ABA engine (depending on how cheap I get it) and swaping it to my A4 with my AEB cylinder head. My concern is if the ABA is an easy swap or will I have a hard time matching my trans, cylinder head and other parts.

I have to make sure I don't pass the $2500. If I can't do non of these for that amount. I'll just wait to save up more money.
Thanks for the help!

i would think going 2.0 would give you a nicer power increase

if your going with a 2.0 you will need 83mm pistons, ABA crank, scat rods, crank bearings, main bearings, main bolts, head bolts, flywheel bolts, rear main seal, IM shaft seal, headgasket, oil pan gasket, front seal, valve cover gasket set and doing the oil pump and complete timing belt kit is a good idea as well.

144mm with a 20 mm pin. Same as stock rods.

The pistons you need will have to be custom made. BoostFactory sellsWiseco 83mm pistons with a 9:1 cr. They can get any specs you want though.

Be sure it runs perfectly as it is before you go throwing more power at it.

same as stock. the pistons will need a lower deck height, so they'll have to be custom made

You can order pistons from qedpower.com also. You can get custom wiseco, JE, or supertech pistons. The rods are the same since the pistons are changes.

you have a AEB head, just leave it alone. When the time comes, just add some cams or intake manifold.

So basically,

ABA crank for 058 blocks AEB/ATW
AEG crank for 06A block AWM
83mm pistons with the pin moved up for the added stroke
scat or pauter rods 144/20mm

Cool! I'm going to talk to a couple of shops close to me - Renn Art and Dub Werks and see if they ever did this type of work.

So what I'm going to do is buy:

Used ABA Crank $ ???
83mm Supertech pistons $599
Integrated Engineering 144 x 20mm Forged Rods $349 or Scat (I haven't decided)
Then all the other parts that I will need like Rod bearings etc..

Then on the cylinder head I'll change the springs and the valves. Do you think I can leave the lifters that I have? I've heard of valves bending, but I never heard anything of a lifter braking.

CAT gold springs $248
Supertech valves $425
Retainers set $199

I really want to buy a CAT cam, but well see because I'm sure labor is going to be a lot.

Thank everybody for you're help.

Once this project is done. I'll post it

Used ABA Crank $ ??? Yes. Should be about $150-250
83mm Supertech pistons $599
Integrated Engineering 144 x 20mm Forged Rods $349 or Scat (I haven't decided) Go with scats
Then all the other parts that I will need like Rod bearings etc.. Head gasket kit, new head bolts and all hardware

Then on the cylinder head I'll change the springs and the valves. Do you think I can leave the lifters that I have? I've heard of valves bending, but I never heard anything of a lifter braking.

CAT gold springs $248
Supertech valves $425
Retainers set $199
Onlyinstall new supertech exhaust valves and leave the rest stock. The stock head can rev to 8k and thats more than you will need with a 3071r

Cool! Thanks for the info.

Are there different types of ABA crank? Aside from 5spd and automatic.

Thanks!
