an easy way to tell if your cat is bad, smell the exhaust. if it smells almost sweet, its normal. if it smells more sulfuric (like rotten eggs) then you have a bad catalytic converter. sometimes at higher rpms or "beating" on your car, you could smell it in the cabin, especially if the rear seats are folded down, exposing the trunk to the rest of the cabin. happy hunting!

thanks so much for your responses!! Sorry for MY late response... been busy!

My car does not smell bad at all, so I guess it might be a sensor or something...

My light turned off, but suddenly it came back on! I expect this cannot be that bad of a thing, especially if it has turned off once. I noticed that in the little window with the number of miles on the motor... I see "INSP" for only a few seconds and then it disappears. I expect that to be because of the fact that I need to change my oil soon. AND a yellow brake pad light turned on too. Gotta save up some money to pay for all this!
