Default Help! Hesitation/Stutter. Fuel Problem

Ok so heres the deal. My 1999.5 A4 with GTRS turbo and everything was recently finished. For a little bit anytime you hit around 10 PSI it would stutter or hesitate real bad. We switched out the MAF to the correct VR6 MAF and the problem went away. I just want to know if there is anything else that could be causing this though and If the car is safe to drive hard. My mechanic thought I might need a bigger fuel pump and told me to go past 4k rpms. I just want to some input on whether or not going past 4k rpms could damage something expensive like blowing a rod or piston?

Have you upgraded your fuel pump to a high flow that supports more hp? Your filter might be choking your fuel supply also. Have you upgraded your filter to a high flow? What about your fuel rail and injectors?

Pump upgrade, I don't believe, should be needed. How about a new fuel filter? And are the plugs gapped right? Stock gap isn't gonna cut it (if you haven't gapped them down). The extra boost will be blowing the spark out.

this thread is 4 months old, the OP never even came back to respond. the guy who asked the question today probably has a stock car, but gave no information whatsoever, so he needs to come back and do that before people take more wild guesses.

True enough - instead of the "kiss the rings bitch" sig, it'd be a LOT more useful to have year, engine, trans, drivetrain listed.
