Default Help me trouble shoot this problem

I have a 1998 audi a4 1.8 t, recently when I had my chip in, I floored it then my car like misfired but had no codes thrown, I would start my car then like 3 second later, my car would die. So I, pulled over and put my stock ecu in and it hasn't happened yet? Do you think it may be, my fuel pump?

Doubt it's the fuel pump - when it dies it dies and the car's tune won't matter. Plus at idle it doesn't matter how much boost you're set up for. You said no codes but is that because you have no CEL or did you actually scan the computer?

For a while I was thinking it was a short somewhere, the whole dash lights flash, then the car shuts dies. And I didn't scan it I just meant it didn't throw a cel.

very possibly your ecu is starting to die, since when you put the original ecu in it doesn't show the same symptoms

might try that ecu in someone with same yr and turbo car see if it does the same thing in their car

Heheh just as I read that, that Season of the Audi commercial came on with the R8 V10 Spyder. Think my bank account would tell me to go f*ck myself on one of those though. But yeah this is just me biding time. To be honest, I love my 2.8 - does exactly what I need it to do, with some nice features, minimal issues, and it looks good doing it. But once the wife's Odyssey EXL is paid off, I'll be Audi shopping and the next one will definitely hang a bigger sack (top candidate is a B6 S4 with the 4.2 and a 6mt, black on tan with the OEM Recaros). But for now I'm happy with this car. For now...

Yeah so far this one is my first and only. I tend to keep cars for quite awhile, mainly because a) I like having no car payment, and b) I choose carefully so it'll be a car I won't want to dump after a year or two. The Odyssey will be paid off in about two years and at that time I'll go after the S - much as I don't like car payments, I really hate TWO car payments and won't do that. I'd have no problem staying in my 2.8 even longer but I bought it in November 2006 at 130,900 miles. I'm at roughly 199k now and despite the fact that both the PO and I maintained it religiously, fact is in the coming miles things are going to start wearing out and two years from now I'll be over 220k and it will start having more issues than I'm going to want to deal with. I'll have had over six good years in it and it'll be time to move onward and upward. Although as long as it's still running well, I'll keep it even just as a backup car or a winter car. My biggest fear with the B6 S is sitting at a red light in the winter and having some moron wipe out the car because he slid on ice or snow...

Either you're making a car payment, or you're making repair payments. One way of another, you're looking at payments . Nice choice on the B6 S4. I'm thinking of one myself, black on black, 6MT
