Question HELP - Rough Idle - P0301 Error Code (1.8T)

Greetings,

I have a 99.5 Audi A4 1.8T with a sudden rough idle. Ran perfectly fine all the way home from work. I went out to go on an errand and when I started the car it idled really rough and the CEL started to blink. I went to a local auto parts and pulled the code. It was a P0301 which is cyl #1 misfire. I have read many posts on related issues so I have done the following already.

I have changed the coil packs.
I have changed the plugs.
I changed the valve cover gasket. (reason - small amount of oil pooled around the plugs)

I still have the rough idle.

What would you recommend as the next steps? MAF sensor? Ign Control Module? Other???

Any help with a recommended sequence would be greatly appreciated.

Are your plugs gapped correctly? By rough idle, do you mean that your check engine light is still blinking?

I gapped the new NGK plugs to 0.32" as recommended. The idle is still rough and the CEL is still blinking.

I have ordered a new ICM (power output). Is there any secrets about removing and installing a new one? It obviously looks easy to do, but do I need to reset anything or will the CEL vanish on its own?. (Assuming that the ICM is the issue)
