i feel that if my headlights were aimed upward, i could see a whole lot better, but then they would not be flush with the bumper and would look absolutely stupid. as well as blind other drivers.

this ***** ridiculous, lesson learned:don't buy cheap ****.

I still can't understand why you can't clip them in. Is the bulb base of the HID that much different than a normal halogen bulb? The only way we can really help is if you take a picture of the headlight housing, the HID bulb side by side with a halogen bulb and the clip in question. Maybe it's something obvious that you are missing and think it's right when it may be totally backwards and we are assuming that you have them oriented in right position. Who knows. Help us help you.

I know when I installed my HID bulbs in my fogs, in order to get them to install correctly, I had to remove the spring clip entirely from the housing, insert the HID bulb which had a much larger base, then reinstall the clip after the bulb was inserted.

Default HID for my 2000 A6

I bought a pair of 6000k HID lights for my 2000 A6 and cant even figure out how to get the damn things installed. I saw a video on you tube, but it had no sound and was clipped together. I have been told that I have to remove the entire bumper cover and take out the entire light assembly to get to the connectors the ballast will go to. Anyone can help me out with this, because after what I have read about all of these HID problems, I may just toss these things in the trash. Anyone willing to assist I can post some pics of exactly what it is im dealing with.

yes i can take pictures of what my problem is.

and mtrainum, i think that having to remove the whole front bumper cover to remove a headlight would be slightly ridiculous. it shouldn't be that hard.

Default shouldnt be, but is

two eight, I wish it were not that complicated, but more than not I am being told that is the way to do it. Also, to beat that I have an aftermarket bumper cover from extreme dimensions i had put on by someone and I undid all the screws I could find and still the damn thing wont come undone. Another post said i can undo the lights by undoing thebolts on top, then the bolts way doooown in the car next to the light assembly. I guess i'll try that route and see if it works out. Its to damn cold to be out to long hassling with this. Wish me luck and thanks for all who replied to assist me

Hey MT,

not too familiar with the A6 but i know in our b5 a4's, the lights could b undone without messing with the at all. On prefacelift cars, the third bolt thats on the side of the headlight assembly by the corner light, is a bit of a PITA but its doable, where as the facelift headlight assembly all three screws are accessible through the top, still the third still being a PITA, but way less than the prefacelift ones
