High PSI
I have a 98 A4 quattro turbo and i just installed my new Apexi boost gauge and am surprised to see that when i hit full boost i am running between 1.0 to 1.3 bar!!! which if im correct is between 15 and 18 PSI.... please correct me if im wrong, as it seems to me like a little to much boost for my car to be running....

Although.... my car waschipped and fitted with a k&n air filter.... still to me 1.3 bar is a s**tload of pressure for my engine to be under.

Can anyway tell me if this kind of PSI is normal for a chipped audi? or is it boosted up way to high?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Neuspeed's chip for 1.8T gives appx 14.5~15psi and strongly suggests 91+ octane, Aftermarket filter, Iridium Plugs... any fuel upgrades? Did you double check to make sure the gauge isn't wacky?

Perhaps you should take advantage of this boost.... get a better flowing fuel system by starting with a nice cool running high flow pump, and some fresh high flow injectors and it might make up some missing ponies... or prevent potential detonation. K04 Turbo would definately give you some ponies with that high of boost!

But realistically, test the gauge, put the old ECU (if u still have it) in the car and check the boost on the gauge to see if it's correct, and if the gauge is correct you should consult the chip dealer and notify them that your ecu has an error. If there is one error, there is bound to be another.

I dunno that sound about right to me the 1.8T is a tough motor I doubt youll have a problem with the motor more likely if your turbo is old it might shorten its life span which is trivial when you think of how much fun it is to drive

Brrmans 1bar chip runs at 15-18psi my turbos a hurtin unit so I only get 13psiwhen my ECU lets it make that much

Im more like brrman, running a consistant 15 psi but when i really boost it it reaches 1.3 bar which is around 19 psi if im correct. So i guess thats right.

My car had been chipped before i bought it so im not to sure about all the minor details.

Thanks for all your feed back guys!!
