Hollow cats?

so ya pros and cons on this?

im so sick and tired of paying 100 bucks for peoples fuck ups intalling my cats, im cuting of my exhaust tomorrow evening and purchasing a mig welder to weld it all back....just want to know a little more about the pros and cons found a good diy on the mil eliminator for the 02 sensor below

$6.00 DIY OČ Sensor MIL Eliminators

anyway just tell me what you would do....

I wouldn't do it.. Make your car sound like a heard of bees and feel less refined..

Dont you think you should get everything copacetic before you go changing things that don't really matter?

Expplucky 05-08-2013 07:59 PM

this is the problem at hand, my right side exhaust is pluged by the previous mechanic not purging the exhaust system of my blown cat, so stuff is still stuck in the pipes, wich is why it is misfiring on the side.

so while im down there i figured i might hollow them, but if itl make my car sound like a rice burner i wouldnt dare.

They sound very 'tricked out Honda civic' when you change the exhaust.. I'm not saying it can't be done.. But I'd do my research (try YouTube) before I went changing up my exhaust..

would hollowing just one fuck up my car at all?

If you're going to do it, do both or don't do it at all. Do you have emissions in your county?

Personally, I think my car sounds better with no cat. If you're going to weld, I'd remove the cats completely and weld in some straight pipe, then scrap the catalyst to offset the cost of the welder.

Expplucky 05-09-2013 01:08 PM

well they have to be there in my state becuase we have emissions so either i gut them or leave them.

while im at it im guna cut open my old muffler (they put some shitty after market muffler on my car) and clean out the debree that fell in and weld that bitch closed.

still not sure if i should put back in the resonator i asked them not to take it out but they did. Car sounded way better with that in there but id need a pipe bender im pretty sure.

My 1998 2.8 is now officially exempt from emissions testing. In MA, the exemption is for all cars 15 yrs and older.

So, one of my cats is rattling. I suspect it will need to be replaced in the next 10k miles.

I hollowed out the single cat on my old Porsche 944 and loved it. Sounded raspy but not stupid.

Thinking about doing the same on my B5. Does it really sound like crap? Do o2 sensor eliminators really work?

Expplucky 05-12-2013 10:58 PM

yes they work, and i havent heard the sound, im guna do it on mine and ill post a vid sense we have the same car. itll be a couple weeks tho
