Default hood latch and problems. what a crappy morning

my fricken hood latch isn't working. i put my car back together and when i try and close the hood, it only goes down to where it would be if you pulled the hood release, and the hood release obviously isn't working cause the hood won't shut all the way. i noticed an electrical connection but i dont remember ever undoing one and i cant find a wire that would go in there. i should of taken more time when i removed it[:@] anyone know why it wont close all the way? i need to leave Tally today...

and now another problem. i just got it started for the first time, the battery has been dead for weeks so it took awhile and the start was very weak. and each time i started it after that it was weak too (all the time being hooked up to another car w/ jumper cables). and then there's a noise coming from the ps pump or that general area. kind of like a whining noise. i replaced the pump w/ a used one off a wrecked car so there's a possibility somethings wrong with it, but i really don't think so. and when i rev the engine, when it settles back down my idle is jumpy. and the car almost died once. i really dont wana have to take this car apart again[&o]

Have you tried readjusting the hood latch on the hood?

There are three bolts that hold the latch to the hood and they are slotted, so if the latch is not lining up just loosen them, line them up with the hook on your radiator support and then re-tighten them.

well it seems like its lined up, it catches when i close the hood it just wont lock down. its like the hood release is constantly being pulled. so you still have to pull the latch to open it

It sounds like you have the cable stretched, make sure the cable isn't being held by something preventing you from closing the hood.
I would pop the cable off from the latch, give it a good pull towards the front of the car, then re-install it back onto the latch. If that doesn't fix it, you need to replace the hood latch.

k i'll give that a shot and then try adjusting it like fred suggested

what about the noise coming from the ps pump? i dont need another one blowing up on me. im not using the stock ps cooler, i used a 5" tranny cooler rom autozone, but that shouldn't be causing any problems right?

here's a vid of the ps pump noise, its a crappy cell phone vid but just bear with it. it actually seems louder in the vid as it does in real life but the sound is the same
