Default Hood lining delete

Is there a valid point the removal of the pad attached to the underside of the hood? I saw many pics of H2Oi show cars with it gone. Is there function or just all form?

End of Line

pretty sure it's just for sound deadening. not sure if all b5's come with one or not.. I've heard a lot of people say they don't run one because that's how they got them

keep it. if your talking about what i think. then i believe it prevents your hood from getting to hot due to the turbo. the underside of my hood has nothing so now i have a small patch on my hood that is fading cause the turbo heat heats up that spot of the hood really bad

i would leave it alone its not only for sound and it does keep hood from getting hot but the other reason why you see others off is because there were ripped and torn up

I have been running without one for years with my top mount turbo setup which puts the turbo about 1" from the hood surface, never had a problem with the stock hood being hot in that spot or the paint fading. Even drove my car 7-8 hrs non stop from Socal to Nocal with no cover and a stock hood back when it was my daily driver.

Even ran that setup with 2 different CF hoods and did not have a problem with the CF or coating getting damaged.

The earlier A4's did not come with it and I haven't seen any of them posting about fading issues because of the turbo heat.

I had hood damage and bought a junkyard replacement.

I scrapped the old hood, but kept the liner, rubber plugs, window washers, and other hardware.
