Hotchkis H-Sport sway bar issue (PICS up!)
ORIGINAL: pyropenguin
Man up and get some perrin or ap racing endlinks for the rear of a 02-05(i think) wrx! They're ~10mm longer than stock.
I doubt that's your problem unless your stock endlinks are screwed up somehow.

I found these. Will they work? At $140, they're super pricey, but if they work, then i'll pay.

I also found a set of 'upgraded' front endlinks from PureMS for only $74.00 for the pair, but it doesn't say they are any longer.
Here are the ones I have, I got them over Perrin simply because they look way cooler:

Here are the Perrin links for the same price as the AP Racing endlinks:

If you get the AP Racing links, I'd upgrade to a stainless steel bolt before you install them... after being in the snow and rain all winter the bolt is starting to get some surface rust.

Thanks for all the help, PyroPenguin.
As promised... pics! The car is on jack stand with the wheels off here. I couldn't get any pics of the car on the ground, or at least I didn't try. In retrospect, that would've been a better display, but you get the idea here.

It's pretty clear the sway bar is rubbing the LCA. The paint is missing on the sway bar and the LCAs are actually gouged out and smoothed. The clunk occurs most when the car pitches or squats under hard braking, turning in the parking lot, or driving over uneven bumps in the road. It can be heard from both sides and seems to be random, as it doesn't occur regularly.

wtf, the sway bar isn't supposed to touch the LCA at all. just take it off. CLX took his off and he said there's more turning of the body in turns but less understeer
It just hit me... the decals are upside down. What are the chances some boob installed this bar upside down? Would it even fit? I'll snap another pic if I get a chance.
Somebody needs to be slapped with my big, black Hotchkis swaybar. My suspicions were correct when I was staring at the pics. The decals, thus the entire bar, were upside down.
How it was installed:

How it should have been installed (and is now re-installed, this pic is from the opposite end):

The damage:

Mira aqui mama! No rubbing! Que fantastico!

This botched install rates a 7 of 10 on the hack-job scale. I have no idea who did this or how they saw this as correct. The car not only doesn't clunk anymore, it actually sits almost 1/2" lower in front and handles better because the front arms are no longer resting on the bar. The LCA's are gouged, but they look OK otherwise. The bar is just missing paint; I'll have to paint it to prevent any further rust. The bushings in the end links are slightly deformed, but they can wait for replacement. Problem solved. Now I will be closely inspecting the rest of my car...
BTW, should I still get the Perrin end links? What advantage would they be?
