Im not sure about fronts but my rear bearing went not long ago and basically I knew it was shot because it sounded like I was in an airplane engine at take off. It literally gave me a headache driving down the road it was so loud.
I actually had a mechanic do mine for me bacause I was at school n pops didn't have the time to do it for me but it takes a bit of time I do know that..

The fronts will do the same lmao that is exactly what I heard when I had my civic. I did the bearing myself just pressed it in with a metal press. If you get it apart you can just take the assembly in and have them press it in for you.

when wheel bearings start to go out, they hum, and the longer you drive on them the louder they get until they finally seize, i think that you can drive about 3-5k on a blown wheel bearing....I would however recommend to change them asap....
a wheel bearing runs 50$ from ecs or likes, and I would recommend doing them as much on your own as possible....
the last wheel bearing I did was a front....I pulled the steering knuckle off the car, took it to a machne shop and had them press out my old one and press in my new one (because I dont have a press) and then I re-installed it in my car....
its not a hard job to do, it just takes a bit of time and pb plaster
