How to diagnose Air Conditioning?

Hey everyone,

So recently my air conditioning has stopped working. I did a bit of searching but there seems to be so much that could be wrong, pressures, compressor, clutch not engaging etc etc and I don't know exactly where to start.

Is there a good diagnostic procedure I should go through to try and find the problem with the AC? It worked fine until the beginning of the summer where it just stopped working. A few seconds after turning it on I hear a change in airflow, something happens, but then the air coming out is still warm. Thats about all I can tell you at this point so I need some sort of procedure to figure this out.

Thanks

You need a set of gauges and some know how. Its usually a leak somewhere or a compressor failure tho.

What kind of gauge do I need?

A/C gauges lol. They tell you what the pressures are on high and low side.
