how much to for a new head gasket installed
I think my head gasket is going out, how much would it be to replace it
|
Depends on where you go. At a dealer it's going to cost a fortune. An indie euro shop will be less. Find a forum member who can do it for you and it'll likely be quite a bit less.

how much is a fortune and how much is alot less

It'll depend on where you are but I'm betting a dealer will get $2000+ easy for parts and labor.

100 bucks for parts... DIY for free.

More than that - gotta get new head and vc gaskets, new head hardware, and the timing service should be done as well rather than reuse the old stuff and have to duplicate the labor.
I should revise my prior post - with these parts, a dealer is probably closer to $3000. Auditech79 could probably tell us for sure based on his experience. |
Sure its not an oil cooler? What makes you think the headgasket is on its way out?

I just ordered the Head gasket kit and timing kit from ECS. You definitely want to do these jobs together because it isn't that much more work. The timing kit was $284 and the head gaskets were $120 per side and you need new bolts for $59. For me was $583 to do the head and timing.

i found a local mechanic thats doing the job for 650 parts and labor, he said it was the head gasket and that ive been running on 3 cylider bc coolant was puddled up in cylinder 2 and it wasing getting a spark. He really seams to know his stuff and does it out of a shop behind his house. charges 45 an hour. I think i got lucky on this on. He was refered to my by a lamas audi driver that i know.

sounds good, but the TB should be done as well, like the others have mentioned.
