how to remove/replace shifter boot in a 1999?
So I have a 1999 A4 and the shifter boot is getting to look a tad old and used, so I want to replace it with another one.
First off, I am assuming that any basic boot will work with this car. If it won't, stop me there.
Anyway, I found that the shifter **** just unscrews easily enough, but I don't know how to get the boot off. I am assuming that I have to pull off a faceplate or something and I don't want to do it without knowing exactly what needs to happen. So does anyone know how to do this? (if you can find a how-to video (i couldn't), that would be great!)

Yeah there's no real trick to it. If you wedge your fingers in under where the leather boot meets the plastic part of the center console, you should feel a little plastic frame underneath the leather. If you shove that forward and lift up, you should be able to pop it right out.
