i have the early b5 amber colored tails which are gross.. problem is the harness will not clip into the late b5 tail light bc the brake, reverse, turn signals are in diff spots. has anyone ever swapped their harnesses ? I prefer the 01 tails with the strait line going through the bottom much nicer look.

The bulb holders from the facelift tail lights will swap with the ones from yours, which will allow you to swap the tail lights as well. lots-o-people have done it.

 

the 98.5-99.0 taillight harnesses will be a direct swap. facelift taillights will need some modification to work right, I think the reverse and something else needs to be switched. there's a write up on audidiy.com about it. I have 98.5 taillights, like the first link posted, on my 97 and they work perfectly and I actually like them better than facelift too.

 

you still have the ones you tinted red in there or did you go back to stock? I wanna tint mine red in the spring when its not so F*CKIN cold outside

yeah those look sick. I think i'm gonna try masking off the back up lense when i spray mine. Should be an adventure lol

Facelift tail lights have horizontal lights and a rectangular back up light:


Like aledelic said, you're gonna have to tweak the wiring a little to get it right, but the bulb holders and light housings are a direct swap
