Default Ignition Coil recall....

I was just looking around on the internet and saw different discussions about the ignition coil recall for 2001-2007? audi's.... When I went to the audi website and ran my vin, it shows that I need to go in to the dealer and have it inspected (I am assuming that some of them had the correct coils and some didn't??). Anyways, have any of you done this? Should I put the stock airbox back in my car? Should I be concerned about the APR tune? Should I put the oem spark plugs back in?

thanks!!

I received that recall in the mail. An actual letter. I believe if you have received it then your VIN lies within there MY for the defect. Not 100% sure though. But yes if you go to the dealer I do believe that they are going to nullify your claim considering you have aftermarket engine management. I.E your APR Chip.

Yeah, I read that Audi will be sending out letters starting in Oct. 09 thru April 10, but you can run your vin on the site to check and see if you're affected.

So I was reading on the APR website and it says that a dealer scan won't show that it has a tune done... it is fully encrypted and undetectable. I think I will call the place that did the chip (with the last owner) and see if there is a way to switch it to stock tune. Some of them have that option.... we'll see. If not, maybe I'll disconnect my boost gauge for the day just in case they go for a ride.

Any other thoughts?

FYI, it's illegal for them to deny you warranty service for having aftermarket parts unless those parts are directly responsible for the problem you have. This does not affect recalls, either.
