interior trim
Okay guys don't laugh at what I am about to tell you it is just something that I am curious about trying. First off my question is how do you get the wood panels off of the dash? The reason being is I wanna learn to wrap interior parts in carbon fiber. So I figure tomorrow I will go tot the junkyard find a b5 take the wood panels off and practice on those before I jump into doing mine.
Thanks guys. |
HAHA!
I'm just kiddin lol. Matter of fact this is something a bunch of guys on here have tried in some form or another. ImTheDevil is a glutton for punishment and has had his trim off 290387 times unless I lost count (;)) I've been thinkin about doin it myself, but don't have time. From the research I've done, its not terribly difficult, just time consuming and a bit intimidating. See the Devil's photo album for pics. As far as the CF goes, there was a thread not long ago about doing exactly that. Seach "CF trim" or some such thing, you should get a coupla good hits. Grabbing a second set from a junk yard is prolly a good idea for two reasons. First, (as you'll see in the pics) the car is somewhat un-driveable when the trim panels are out because you basically have to tear the whole dash out. Having a second set would minimize the down time because you could take you time, do it right, then just rip out the old ones and replace them all in one shot. The second reason is obviously if you screw up the extra ones, you still have the originals in your car if you decide to try again or not do it at all. You might PM ImTheDevil and ask him for some tips/tricks, i remember hearing something about velcro..... lol. GL! |
