Depending on what kind of shape the switch is in, you could try another DIY just to get you by until you can replace it. ImTheDevil did something similar to this as I recall. Basically you're gonna start the same way you would for that other DIY, but instead of cleaning the contacts or f*ckin around with that little plastic thing, you're gonna jump the contact from your parking lights to the one for your headlights. This is, however, assuming that the contact for your parking lights in that little plastic jobber is still good. That way your headlights will come on when you click the stalk up once, instead of just the parking lights. Keep in mind though, you will be able to leave your headlights on now.
If you look at this pic from the DIY, you see how there are a couple different contact points there?

those coincide with the two contacts on the plastic thing that melt. What you'd have to do is connect the copper contacts in the picture, so that when you flick the stalk up to turn on the parking lights, the contacts that complete the circuit to turn on the parking lights also turn on the headlights. Make sense? I can't tell from the picture or remember from when I had mine torn apart, but once you get in there and start messing with it, it might be easier to figure out.

The problem is how much voltage the switch draws through it. If i remember off my head from a while ago when I got sick of replacing switch after switch etc... it was around 7v parking lights, 15v headlights and 23v headlights and parking lights. I ended up just putting in a relay and ran the switch through that. Solved all problems for me and running the headlight portion through the relay pulled the load down to 13v. Fogs still work like normal (off with high beams on, off with headlights off) so all was perfect. Look into it or bring your car to an auto electrician if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself
