Looking to buy used 2001 A4 Quattro - Advice Needed!
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and stumbled upon it as I was looking online to purchase an Audi A4. I've never been an Audi owner before, though I have friends who own and love them.
I came across a two options that appear to be great values: a 2001 A4 2.8 Quattro and a 2001 A4 1.8 Quattro. They are each located at different car dealerships (not privately held). Here are some details on each:
2001 A4 1.8 Quattro (Automatic Transmission, Cloth Seats):
It has low total mileage (55,000 miles) and the Carfax Report says there's been two owners (the first person owned the car for 9 years and the second person for only two) and no reported accidents/damage for either owner. The listing price is just below $5,900. No pictures are posted, however, though the listing and dealership appear to be legit.
2001 A4 2.8 Quattro (Automatic Transmission, Leather Seats):
It has low total mileage (68,000 miles) and the Carfax Report says there's only been one owner and no accidents/damage. The dealer's listing price is just under $7,000 but I think I might be able to get him to come down a little bit from that price. It has a 2.8L V6 DOHC 30V engine, and the car looks flawless in the pictures.
Would either of these deals be a good buy? Before this car I owned a 2000 Volvo S80 (bought new and owned for 13 years until the car's maintenance costs exceeded its blue book value). While I am used to expensive maintenance I've heard that Audi's can be pretty expensive to maintain if repairs aren't taken care of in a timely fashion. I do have some money for repairs if need be but I'm interested in these low mileage options since that should lead to a greater longevity before repairs are needed.
Also, what kinds of Audi-specific questions should I ask each dealer to find out if the car is in tip top shape? Since my knowledge of this model is relatively limited I want to make sure I don't overlook anything significant when I check out each car and take them on test drives.
Thanks for your help and any feedback you have to offer! If you need any other info please share your questions and I'll try to get you the information.
