Default low rpm engine noise

Even though I'm getting another engine in a few more months, I'm curious about what's causing this sound. When I rev it from about 1k-1.5k, the engine makes this chugging/grinding sound. At any other rpm, it sounds pretty much normal. Does anyone else have this problem? My car's a drive by wire, so I can't push the throttle in the engine bay to hear where it's coming from. Doesn't the water pump make this kind of noise when it starts to go bad?

Pretty sure this was started before your tbelt snapped, but for gits n shiggles, I'm gonna throw out there that it could have been the cam chain and or associated tensioners. Did the sound somewhat resemble marbles in a blender?

I know for sure the cct wasn't bad after diagnosing where the sound was coming from. I've come to a conclusion that it could have been a few things actually. Since it was coming from the tb area it could have been just the tb, tensioner/roller, idler pulley, water pump, or all of the above. The tb didn't actually snap. What happened was that half of the teeth on the tb shredded off.

im having a similar issue right now!
Idk if this has been resolved yet but when i'm in first gear and start rolling, or stopping i get this grinding noise that sounds like my tires rubbing or something but i checked all of that..

I'm about to do my timing belt so if this is the problem i'll resolve soon.

I have about 140k on my car and i have no idea when the TBelt was done, if at all, so i'm getting worried

From what I've learned about these engines is that it's just as important to change associated components in the tb area as it is to change the tb itself. These parts that are connected to the tb affect the 'free flowingness' of the tb. If one part starts to seize up, the belt can become loose or experience a great deal of resistance, which is what can cause the tb to fail. I suggest getting a complete tb kit (from ecs tuning for example) every time you change the tb. That's what I'm doing to the engine I'm putting in so that I can have some peace of mind. I can't wait to able to accelerate hard and have the engine not misfire! Curse the man than stripped out my spark plug threads!

Here's the one from ecs tuning. It's 10 bucks more but they always offer free shipping for it. The blauparts one seems to include a few more extra things though. That's probably a better deal than ecs.
