Lower rear bushings: awful F'n job
Just did it yesterday. One of the most frustrating jobs I've done on a B5. I never got the E brake cable out of the lower wishbone. I finally pulled the cable all the way out of the car by remvoing the back of the center console, then removing the two bolts on the E brake lever so I could get it up and get to the cables. Then I took out the wishbone with the cable still in it.
Then some genious in Inglostat routed the E brake cable on the passenger side up and over the carrier for the diff. Had to lower that, never got that little clip thing back into it. Couldn't find the hole for it.
Getting the bushings out is a lot of hammer and chisel work. The two back-to-back ones on the front of the wishbone are no big deal. The bushing on the back is a real pain.
Note to Mr. Audi: why in the hell would you route the E brake cable through the wishbone? Why not just bolt it to the wishbone like everyone else does?

Dude I'm due for this and this is what's keeping me from tackling the job. Heard a lot of horror stories with those rear bushings. but the noise from my rear is starting to get worst. i might have to do this job sooner than i expected.
