lowering my audi A4
hi, everybody i'm new to this forum and would like like to lower my 2000 audi A4 quattro 1.8t. The car now is stock. I need to lower it and get 18" rims for it. i would like to lower it 2 inches(i like it low)and get the rims for it but at the same time i don't want it to rub when i turn or hit a pot hole. I drive my car fast and i do take corners fast and i hate it when the car bounces too muchor rubs on hard turnsand on bumpy roads. So my questions is what wheels size do i need to get inorder to avoid these problems and what lowering springs do i need? Also, what about staggered rims? Thanks...
welcome,
-235/40/18 tires will fit with rolled fenders.
-Look at H&R race springs for a drop possibly but they will put you down 2.5 (2in really isn't that low, maybe by the end of the summer, I'm gonna be 23in from ground to the inside of the arch (which is like a 3in drop,(If I had the money I would bag it, but alas, me=college kid who rather buy other things)
-Yes, you can run staggered wheels but you will understeer more so if you really want performance don't go with it.
hope this helps.
For your driving style though you might want to look into Coilovers in which case I would recommend Stasis, FK, H&R and I would stay away from Vmaxx(they'll be to soft for what you want)

I've heard that staggered wheels = bad for quattro, so probably stay away from that. For how low you want to drop, coilovers definitely sound like what you want. Aftermarket springs on stock shocks is unreliable at best, and catastrophic at worst; so if you don't go with coilovers, then at least get shocks as well as springs. But coiloverscan give you a much lower drop than any shock/spring combination.
by the way it sounds i think cutting your springs or heating them would be perfect for you...
i hope you dont live near me, i hate people who drive like you say you do, especially in the city.

H&R race only has 1.9" of drop
i'd reccomend you do 17's instead of 18's

my b- aparantly my memory is going, listen to LZ, he knows what he is talking about
I do wanna get shocks for it. I'm thinking Bilstein. I want to lower it at least 2 inches and not have the fact that my tires will rub on every corner or bounce like crazy. People on the forum recomended Neuspeed race springs but i heard that H&R are a bit softerbut theywant lower as much as Neuspeed. So if i got 18" rims for it and lowered it by at least 2 inches will i still rub on corners and bumpy roads? Thanks guys...
H&R Lowboy coilovers..Expensive but one of the lowest drops on the market i think
However i have 18's with a H&R racing spring setup on stock struts..PM me for pictures or just search my name.

2in drop shouldn't be too bad. Don't know where you're at but where I'm at we have worry about humongous speed bumps. I'd be more worried about my undercarriage than I would be about my wheel well. A friend of mine busted his exhaust pipe because the idiot lowered his car too much.
PM Sent.
