Default MAJOR WATER PUMP PROBLEMS!!!!

Hi all.New to this forum. My son just bought an 97 A4 Quattro 2.8 6cyl.He neded a new water pump so we bought the whole kit to do timing belt + water pump, thermostate etc....In the process of removing the water pump a bolt snapped off in the block[sm=headbang.gif] went to the local AP store they recomended a bolt extracter which of course broke off in the middle of the bolt as well[:@][:@][:@]Not sure what a sure fire method is of fixing this problem.Though one of you seasoned audi wrenchers may.....I hope. thanks in advance.

Post a pic if possible. You're probably best off drilling the old bolt and using a time-sert or Heli-coil.

A picture would definetly be helpful, but you will probably have to drill the bolt out and do as Tweaked suggested. [sm=signs003.gif]

thanks for the suggestions.I decided to try something a little more aggressive.I used my mig welder to weld a fender washer to the stud then in turn weld a larger nut to the washer.Outcome was well...out it came, lol.[sm=happy046.gif]
