okay ive noticed for the past few days on my 96 audi a4 2.8 q(m) that when im in first or second gear that it sounds like a loud fan is on. but when im in higher gears i dont hear the fan noise .....any help please .

 

It's prolly more like gear noise... as in your tranny is going.

But, we need more info....

 

okay i know its not gears cus its not a grinding noise its more of a fan and once i go into 3rd it doesn't make the noise on acceleration, it makes the noise on acceleration from 1st to 2nd. its a 1996 audi a4 2.8 manual quattro

 

The fact that it goes away in third means it cannot be the engine or even anything in the suspension... I'm calling something in the tranny..

 

i know the noise. mine does it in first and goes away in second.

chipped tooth in first gear...annoying as hell

 

okay i took the car out and it makes that loud fan noise even in neutral like a old van sound help......

throwout bearring? now i had that break on my 2001 mustang and the car wouldnt move.

so wouldnt that be the same thing?

my car stills drives and gets up and goes ......and only error im getting is 1n1.....:c onfused:

 

shooting for the obvi here... is your heater or ac on when its making the noise?

 

Its the clutch fan, my tiptronic does the same
