Messed up Radio after Tinting
I just got my windows tinted and on my way home I turned on the radio and there was just a loud buzzing. It sounded like when someone yells into a microphone and puts it right up to their mouth. I switched it to the CD and it did the same thing. Finally it came in for a while but then it just cut back out. There is also no bass. I've heard of tinting messing up the radio reception but never the entire system! My question is if I install an aftermarket Nav unit will that help my problem at all?
WTF!!!! i've never heard of these two things being related. Hopefully someone can help. Only thing I can think of is he damaged the antenna in the window somehow. Tinting shouldn't mess up the signal since it only filters visible light(maybe uv also I don't know much about tint) and radio waves are not even close to the same wavelength of visible light
Since they use water to apply the film is it possible that he got my radio wet somehow? And where is the antenna in the window located? Its a metallized tint so that might have something to do with it?
it could have been water (not very likly, but possible), or the amp just gave, try switching the balance to the front speakers if they work fine then the amp on the rear is gone, the get in the trunk and inspect the underside of the speaker for moisture.
I went and checked it out. Switched it to the front and it kept making the same noise. The speakers weren't wet underneath either. Is there something that would cause all the speakers to blow?
