meth injection?

Hey,
I was thinking about running a meth injection if it was really doable.

I've heard nothing but good things about water / meth injection, it cleans your engine, raises octane cheaply, cools the engine, and increases the life overall.

I was looking at this home made kit, but I've heard they aren't reliable and its better to just buy a preassembled.
home made
I guess the guy has put it in TSI's and Turbo miatas and shyt.

But i was also looking at the stage 2 kit from alcohol injection systems
AIS
OBVIOUSLY this kit is more expensive. but its more likely to work better.

Does a meth system require special tuning? I was going to get chipped in the spring, would that handle it?

Next year i was considering an eliminator kit as well.
My future goal is to sit around 400hp and i was thinking the meth would help.

What do you think?

Try looking at www.snowperformance.net. They make race grade meth injection systems and ones that even allow you to plumb your washer fluid tank into the system.

those kits are pretty nice. And theyre relatively cheap so thats nice. I'll prob order one after TB and GIAC.
Anyone know what the install is like? Do you really have do drill the throttle body out?

You can install those systems into the intake tubing itself if you like. Just keep in mind that the nozzle will get oil on it so clean it occasionally.

Just make sure you upgrade to a better SMIC or a FMIC first.

flynnr 12-07-2009 02:31 PM

yeah you will definitely need a fmic for this... i got mine from evoms.com but i know www.ringer-racing.com has better pricing on their kits...

dragonrage 12-07-2009 03:38 PM

You don't need a FMIC. I think Mike is recommending it because they both aim to do the same thing, yet the FMIC won't need to be refilled with liquid.

I suggest upgrading because the water meth will not help keep the stock SMIC from heat soaking since the water meth injection is installed after the SMIC. It is best to upgrade the intercooler first to reduce IAT's and keep them lower for a longer period of time, then the water meth injection can be added after to lower the IAT's at the IM even more and increase the octane level.

What ever you do don't by a kit from AIS. There controllers are a knock off of coolingmist Old design. Notice even coolingmist does not sell them anymore.. I have friends that bought them and they are very problematic. Both ended up getting Vast performance controllers because i didn't have any issues with mine.

I'm thinking of going with the stg 3 from snow performance because it has the controller with it, and a bigger tank is nice too.
