Ha I remember on my 240 when my friends and I hooked up a duck call to my type rs greddy bov. Thats was hilarious.

But I just got one from a 97 s4 and put it in. Like 5 days ago. So that was bad to begin with? Cause I mean I'll just save up for a forge splitter then.

There was no S4 stateside in '97. I hope you didnt pay too much for it.

You'll want a Forge 007 or splttr or an 710N from the 225hp TTs

my setup is diffrent from yours. I am running a stock turbo(k03) but i have an apr 91 oct ecu. I read on one of the vw forums to change the plugs and regap them to .28 stock is .32 i believe. Here is the site. After i changed them my problem was solved.

I stopped in at Advance Auto parts to pickup some plugs. I've heard that copper is better for our cars.

They had a number of different manufactorers, and every one of them gapped the plugs differently. The sales guy said that I should use the gapping on the plug instead of the .032 or some other 'arbitrary' number because the plugs are made to perform at a certain gap.

Well - no point in arguing with a high school student - he might very well know more about cars (or at least some aspects) than I do.

So, who is a good, inexpensive maker of copper tipped plugs? And what is a good gap for a non-modified 2001 1.8t engine. (I don't think I'm due for plugs yet - seller said everything was done fairly recently. I just want to have them on hand).

These have a copper core and are good for 1.8t's. They're pretty cheap too. I prefer getting this type of plug because The tip seems to work a lot better at handling high temps compared to those needle tip ones. NGK is always a good choice.

The part # is BKR7E

.032 for stock boost cars and .028 for higher boost cars. Do not listen to what that moron at the store said. You have to gap your plugs to what your car needs.

Exactly. Don't ask them crap. They always want to seem all knowledgeable, but in reality, they probably go home to their little wannabee mechanic forum and ask questions that people ask them everyday lol.

thanks for the input. Like I said, I didnt see any point in arguing. He probably just trusts his suppliers more than he should. He'll learn. And as far as going home and hitting a mechanics forum - well - look at me! I'm here in the Audi forums. (Of course, I know that I don't know).

thanks again!

There's a difference though. You're asking because you want to learn from other's experiences. That's why we're all here. You're not pretending that you know more than someone else.
