My A4 1.8T smokes like crazy, help!

Lately my car has been smoking, so I replaced the little check valve or pcv valve and it didn't help. Any suggestions? Please Help

try the gum or the patch... need more info, colour of smoke, when it smokes car info. etc.

It smells like burning oil, the smoke is a blue color. I pressure tested the cylinders and they were 180 psi across every cylinder, which i thought was pretty good. Im not throwing any fault codes for the oil issue or anything like that it, I did take the cat off and replaced it with a test pipe. Thats the only code thrown is the O2 sensor is at threshold or something like that.

Could be your turbo.

Changed the turbo 3 times does it for every single turbo. The turbo that were put on were all good.

does it smoke as soon as you start it, until you turn it off?

Can you let it run 'til it starts smoking and then try and look under the hood to find out what part of the engine bay it's smoking from? Also, obviously, check your oil often and make sure you're not running out.

Really need to know where the smoke is coming from. Is it in the engine bay or out of the tail pipe?

dragonrage 10-30-2009 10:39 AM

ah, yes, tail pipe's possible too... definitely need to know.

If you get good compression it could be your valve stem seals. Does it smoke the worst right at start up and get less as it warm up?
