What were your symptoms for the wheel bearing? Just curious. Only accidents that are claimed on insurance go on carfax.

Grinding noise from the back. The mechanic also said it's the bearing before he started his work. I won't get it back until tomorrow. The rear brakes also need a replacement soon, but still function well enough...

I got my car back. The noise is gone and everything, except the brakes, is alright.

One last issue: When I press the gas, I feel some really soft knocking (didn't even notice during the test drive). Has anyone had this before?
The engine runs well and reacts fast when I give gas but it bothers me and I need to find out what it could be. It's also when I idle/stand and give gas and the "knocking" varies when I press the pedal further down, too. It seems to be a little random and not steadily recurring.

Could it be a belt of some kind? Any ideas?
Thanks.

Looks cool! Yes, it's true; the thermostat is behind the timing belt. Hahaha...aw, damnit.

This is the first time I've ever seen a 12v without the sport/3-spoke steering wheel, and I'd say that the comment about the airbag going off may be accurate - could have been an electrical short.

Is the knocking coming from the engine or from the pedal?

$308 seems pretty expensive to replace a rear wheel bearing. Parts should be $50 so I'm assuming your getting charged 2 hours labor at a dealership. I got an inner & outer bearing with seal for $40 and had an ex-Audi tech replace it for $75 for me. I'm fortunate to have found this guy since he worked at an Audi dealership so he's factory trained and fast.

From the pedal only. The car also seems to have a slight hesitation. I should probably replace spark plugs, air filter, and fuel filter.
