craigslist? ebay? i got my thule setup pretty cheap i bought it in pieces a long time ago from various places (such as cl and ebay), for a snowboard rack. i just got an entire yakima setup with 2 copperhead bike racks off cl for 100, including the q towers and cross bars, then i sold the rack minus the bike racks for 250, so i made 100 bucks and have the bike racks that i wanted, on my thule bars. i'm trying to find a way to fabricate a fairing now.. i just have to find a place out here that cuts plexiglass. anyways, yeah. buy it used. not too hard.

Are you lookin for a roof mounted set up or one of the ones that goes on the trunk lid? craigslist would prolly be the cheapest if you can find one that's not a piece of junk

Search the forums for classifieds, like Fourtitude/VWVortex, Audizine, here, etc. Recently I picked up a used Thule base rack (feet/load bars), snowboard mounts, bike mount, and fairing all for $260 shipped. The deals are out there, just gotta look for them.

OEM rack?

If you're talking about OEM rack, it will fit with some cutting. The B6 is wider than the B5. There are actually some guys who are running the B6 rack on their B5.

i like the thule setup personally.. the oem looks really nice though but i've never seen one up close. personally, i'd get one made for my car, fabricating a roof rack sounds like it could potentially be disastrous if its not a direct fit.

There are2 different Thule ones. There's one that looks pretty similar to OEM and there's one with separate bars and attachments. The latter may work on the B5 if the attachments fit (I'm sure it does) but the bars might be a bit long.
