I have an 2001 a4 1.8t, I am having some problems with it one minute i go into work and then come out turn it on and it sounds awful and the whole car is shaking. When you push the gas down it starts puttering (guess thats the best description for it). Im at college and not real sure what it could be. Any suggestions?

 

Combustion-related (obviously). Bad plug(s), wire(s), coil pack(s) are the most likely causes. Change your plugs first (might as well - they're cheap and they are a wear item). If that doesn't do it, start unplugging one spark wire at a time. If you pull one and it gets worse, that one was working right. If you pull one and there's no change, that cylinder is where the issue lies.
