need help with cv joint

Default need help with cv joint

I have a 01 jetta not an a4 but since volkswagen and audi are similar i figured i would ask...i need help removing the bolts that connect the inner cv joint to the drive flange...I cant figure out how to take them out to save my life...help please!

Its a special 12 point key that you might be able to find at NAPA, some NAPA's have them and others dont know what your talking about. Otherwise order it online. Remove those and itll pull out.

yup its a 12pt triple square. 8mm. then if it still doesnt come off then take a hammer and tap on the housing. it should take only light hits and it will break free.

yep, 12 bit torx bolts they aren't hard to get off

Theres a writeup on audidiy i think. If you for some reason strip these you can cut the bracket too. I thought for sure they were gonna strip on me since there is so many points, but they held well.

If you try to use a regular Torx, you'll probably strip them. I ordered mine from either www.germanautoparts.com or www.ecstuning.com - four bits for around $15.
