Question Need help picking cold air intake system for my 1.8t...please help

Hey guys i have a quick question....i am thinking about getting the k&n apollo cis universal cold air intake for my 2000 a4 1.8t quattro, can anyone let me know if they are good intake systems, and also can anyone tell me what size adapter i will need to fit the stock intake hose?? What size is the stock intake hose??? The intake comes with a 70mm hose that comes with it, but i can buy a 60mm, or 80mm adapter to fit it...please if anyone can help i would appreciate it, i am trying to buy the intake today, thanks guys!!!!

basically what CCA4 is saying is that a cold air intake is useless in any car without proper cold air being directed at the filter. so in our cars, it won't do a damned thing without porting the bottom of the airbox housing.

I can't see the pic, but knowing CCA4's sense of humor, I bet it's something smart ***.

Anyway, the intake on these cars are pretty good stock. Unless you have some other serious mods (like a BT w/ FMIC and stuff) there really isn't a point to adding the K&N intake. You can, however, looking into some of the airbox mod DIYs here and on audidiy.com

LOL hey! I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. Its just that this type of question has been answered more times than I can count, and there's so much good information out there already! The search feature will really be more helpful than any of us could be.

And I'll remember that, Brad

Think of it this way, is sucking in air thats slightly colder than normal into a glowing hot turbo really going to be colder coming out of it? OF COURSE NOT! Thats the what the damn intercooler is for!.

hey man if you want to buy it and heat soak your car even more than it will already be, go ahead, you'd be better off diy box mod or diy cone filter mod though

Not only if the 'bo hot as hell (damn, who coined that term?) but the act of compressing air creates heat as well.

Also, not sure if anyone noticed or not, maybe it's just me, but the air box actually has a "snorkle" that gets it's air supply from outside of the engine compartment (which is definitely cooler than anywhere inside the engine comaprtment).

So, like I was saying, stock FTW.

Just got back to my room and civilian internet, and I came to AF just to see the pic.

Freaking HILARIOUS though (and the flame suit too)!
