Default No fuel, no spark

I trying to diagnose whats going on with my car. Engine cranks fine but I dont hear the fuel pump turn on and I dont have spark when I try to ground out a plug on the valve cover. Where do I start? how do I test to make sure the ECM is turning on? Only thing I have found is that #29 fuse was blown. Dont know what it does.

thanks man, Thats what I saw too. So I replaced it with a 15 amp fuse and didnt help the problem. Still cranks with no spark and I dont hear the fuel pump turn on. So far I know it has 12v at the relay when I stick a test light in one of the pins. not at the fuse though. Where do I go next?

Number 29 should be a 20 amp. That's just about all I know. If you have a code scanner you can plug it in and turn on your starter. It would make sense for a code to come up for that problem. Other than that I can't help anymore. I'm only 16 and I've had my Audi for about 4 months. Haha haven't gotten to that problem yet, but hey it's an Audi I should eventually have it. lol

Goodluck though!

Have you tried jumping 12v straight to the fuse pin and see if the pump turns on?

As for the relay, are you finding 12v at just 1 pin or more then 1 pin?

If it is relay part # 8D0-951-253/206 (22 200 117A) I have a brand new one sitting here that I got for a friend but he ended up not paying for it.

thanks for the help Mike. I just jumpered 12v from one fuse slot to the #28 fuel pump fuse and I definetely heard the pump turn on. First time Ive gotten that, so now I know the pump works. Also, I have 12v on pin 17 and 19 on the relay, nothing on the others. As far as I know I still dont have spark, but maybe im not testing the right way.

Do you have a MIL? If so, what is the stored code? I would fix the fuel pump issue (likely the relay at this point) and reset the DTCs stored. If you still don't have spark at that point, continue diagnostics.

you don't need a CEL for it to store/throw codes. If you have a VAG scan it just to make sure.

somehow I missed a blown fuse. #32 "engine timing" fuse. Replaced it and it runs.
