Replace the hazard switch. The relay for both is built into it.

First check your fuses one by on because when i first got my car this happened to me when i tried installing my LED side marker's i blew two fuse (How i dont kno) and if the fuses are OK then replace your relay which is your Hazards switch but remember all ways first start from the bottom and work your way up that's how i fix all my problem's with car's and can save you a lot of money in the long run. :D

Well umm ok there im just saying that it might be a chance he blew the fuses doing something to his light's like i did and he really didn't specify now did he.

There's always a chance it's a fuse. Hiwords meant it as in, before posting about the problem, most of us would expect fuses had been checked. And further, this is a documented and known failure on these cars. You can absolutely count on replacing that switch a couple times during your ownership. Playing the overwhelming odds, and absent any info regaring him screwing with his wiring, it's pretty safe to just go right in and change the switch to fix it.

and actually i saw a thread a little while back about taking it out and cleaning the relays with a screw driver and some sort of electrical parts cleaner and it worked. to get the thing out i used a paper clip and just put it in right above the relay and pulled gently til it came out.

hey guys thanks for getting back to me..... appoligise for getting back so late.... turned out that i had blown two fuses and also the relay was knackered!!!!!! but after that went down hill. fan belt snapped and then found out car had not been serviced in ages like the service book has said and then my central locking f**ked up. all fixed now i hope..... thanks again for your assistance....

How do you access relay for replacement?

chocalotstarfish 10-23-2010 08:45 AM

It's the orange triangle button on your center dash. Really easy replace on the 99.5+ not hard on the 99-
